Morocco Atlas & Sahara Escape

8 nights From €1,950 / person

From the riads of Marrakech to a private camp under Sahara stars, with Berber lunches in the High Atlas along the way.

Eight nights, four landscapes: the medina of Marrakech, the cedar forests of the High Atlas, the kasbah-lined Dadès and Drâa valleys, and the dunes of Erg Chebbi at the edge of the Sahara. The drive between them is half the experience — the road from Marrakech to Ouarzazate climbs to 2,260 m over the Tichka pass, with hairpin views down both sides of the Atlas.

You spend your first two nights in a quiet riad inside the medina — close enough to walk to Jemaa el-Fna at sunset, far enough that you sleep. Then you head east via the cinematic kasbah of Aït Benhaddou, two nights in the Dadès Gorges, a day driving the palm-grove route, and two nights in a private dune camp at Merzouga. Closing night is back in Marrakech for a hammam and a final tasting menu.

Guiding is by a Marrakech-born driver-guide who travels with you for the full eight nights. In the High Atlas, a Berber mountain guide joins for the walking days. At the camp, the host family who built the camp serves the dinners themselves.

This trip is paced for travellers who want to feel the changing terrain rather than tick off "main cities". The drives are long but never rushed, and every overnight is somewhere you'd want to spend two.
